{"id":25358,"date":"2021-09-20T11:40:16","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T11:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.seqnet.co.uk\/tsr\/?p=25358"},"modified":"2021-09-20T11:40:16","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T11:40:16","slug":"air-quality-and-ecodesign-stoves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.seqnet.co.uk\/tsr\/air-quality-and-ecodesign-stoves\/","title":{"rendered":"Air quality and ecodesign stoves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The Stove industry is now being extremely pro-active to ensure that wood burning is as efficient as possible and with the minimum of environmental impact.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Even though\u00a0wood burning stoves are a relatively low source of emissions, \u00a0a\u00a0new Environmental Initiative\u00a0is being led by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stoveindustryalliance.com\/\"><b>Stove Industry Alliance<\/b><\/a>, the trade body for the stove industry. The SIA feel it is important to reduce emissions from wood burning stoves even further and are launching an\u00a0environmental standard, committing manufacturers to start meeting stringent new green laws six years ahead of schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">From this Spring, the industry\u2019s main manufacturers will ensure that all newly-designed wood burning stove models will meet European environmental standards, which are not due to be enforced until 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\"><b>This will ensure British wood-burning stoves are\u00a0more environmentally friendly than they have ever been, putting the industry at the cutting edge of European standards.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The Scheme is overseen by\u00a0<b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hetas.co.uk\/\">HETAS<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>and Supported by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-environment-food-rural-affairs\"><b>DEFRA<\/b><\/a>\u00a0, The Department for Environment, Food &amp; Rural Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">At The Stove Room we like to stay one step ahead and some of our stove models already qualify for the Ecodesign Ready label!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Independent tests have shown that an Ecodesign Ready stove produces 90% fewer emissions that an open fire and 84%\u00a0fewer than a stove of ten years ago. Ecodesign Ready stoves are measurably better for the environment. If you\u2019re still using an open fire or an old stove, perhaps it\u2019s\u00a0time to consider a new stove installation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0Our engineers are HETAS qualified and we always ensure we are installing DEFRA approved stoves into smoke controlled zones.
